To add to the nonsense: a month or so back I went to the bank (B of A) and as I am standing in line, I notice a hand printed signs on regular printer paper (written in different colored markers like in kindergarten), one between each teller window facing out and it says:

PLEASE REMOVE HAT AND SUNGLASSES INSIDE THE BANK TO PROTECT YOUR IDENTITY.

So when I get up to the teller, I say: "Interesting sign. So, we have to remove hats and sunglasses but not our masks which cover up 70% of the face?" Answer: silence. I ask, "Isn't that a little weird? How does that even make sense? This is a BANK" Answer: silence (as she is fiddling with my papers)I let it go because what's the point...clearly, the tellers are told not to respond to questions about that RIDICULOUS SIGN.

But the kicker of it all is that the week before this there had been a robbery at that branch (5 in my town in six months) and on the local news they showed a thin white dude at the teller window with a mask, baseball cap, sunglasses, a short-sleeve t-shirt and both arms fully tattooed with a number underneath to call w/ information. A friend suggested that the full sleeves of tats could have been fake (the fake look fairly realistic) so the guy could literally have run out, ripped off the sleeves, thrown the baseball cap, glasses & mask in the dumpster and drove off which apparently he did.

Before COVID, it was COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE TO WALK INTO A BANK (MAYBE EVEN "ILLEGAL") with face coverings on. FOR DECADES! Can you believe this shit? Even after a robbery, the bank's only concern are the sunglasses and hat.
