Biden said during his first solo press conference on Thursday that he will announce the $3 trillion proposal on Friday in Pittsburgh.

The next day, his Transportation head said a mileage tax could be one way to help pay for the plan.

“I think that shows a lot of promise,” Buttigieg said. “If we believe in that so-called user-pays principle, the idea that part of how we pay for roads is you pay based on how much you drive.”

"The gas tax used to be the obvious way to do it; it’s not anymore,” he continued. “So, a so-called vehicle miles traveled tax or a mileage tax, whatever you want to call it, could be the way to do it.”

but if the old way of the gas tax is obsolete, why aren't they talking about rescinding it and replacing it with this new milage tax? Ah, because they want to double tax on it. The middle class is already paying for it through the gas tax which has worked fine until Biden and Co. took office.

Now they propose to double tax it and of course it will most affect the middle class the most since they travel the most...ie, to/from work on a daily basis, plus all the driving for personal reasons......

What about folks who live in rural communities?

Car SALES TAX = Check
TOLLS on Roads and Bridges = Check
GAS TAX = Check
Inspection and Registration Tax = Check

Probably when you go to get your car's annual inspection, your miles will be taxed as well.

To the Marxist just having a car is racist, so no doubt this money will be funneled to increase means of public transportation.

This will raise the prices on all goods and services in addition as the price is passed along to consumers.

A mileage tax wiil absolutely kill off numerous industries and retail establishments, on top of the pandemic. People will drive less and the financial effects will be felt deeply and widely. Bidet & Buttgig will not get the trillions hoped for, they will get significantly higher unemployment, meaning significantly LESS tax revenue coming in and MORE entitlement benefits going out. You cannot get blood from a turnip.

This is wrong because the people in cities, who aren't as directly effected by the tax, benefit from the vehicles driving on the roads. It's where all their deliveries come from, where the manufacturing takes place, farming, etc,...

But the lib base lives in the cities and rural areas are full of Republicans.

vehicles with increasing miles to gallon ratio .. more electric cars on the road and our politician actors are scripted to think outside the box .. they will get their blood come hell or high water.

Maybe it is in preparation for a new type of energy introduction to the sheep?

That would destroy the gas tax.

Rental car companies will collect the tax at twice the rate and bill you after your returned your rental.. The additional cost will be a processing fee.

Too many fuel efficient vehicles and electric vehicles means the government is getting less money and therefore needs to invent a new tax to get more money.

Tesla owners will pay the same as a diesel.

In a few years they will say that people are driving less due to the tax and they need another new way to pay for their democracy.

Great if the money actually went to roads and bridges- The money mostly goes for entitlements - YES some transportation is funded, mostly expansion of public transportation, e.g. bus lines, for as Biden would call them "poor people" allowing them to further infiltrate into suburbia. Not a conspiracy- a conspirafact.
