Many if not most Chinese are pretty happy, and MSM accounts of poverty eradication campaigns, high-speed trains, new infrastructure etc are no secret. A team is sent into a poor community, actually take up residence; when they leave, the village is site for a cattle-breeding program, an optics factory, the center for shipping surrounding towns' manufacturies' output. No twerking exhibitions in immediate evidence, so there's that.  |
