Why Does The CDC Show Low COVID Death Rate?

The CDC is government controlled right? So why don’t they show high death rates due to COVID in order to scare everyone more? Why show over 97% survival rate? How does that help the narrative?

When I use the CDC survivability rate to convince others that all of this commotion is a lie, they turn around and ask the question above.

I’m not sure how to use government statistics to prove that other government statistics are a lie.
