Id question why it died first are you sure your alternators not faulty

Interstate batteries are pretty good (not cheap)

I just bought one from AutoZone and it's doing fine.. Plus they replace it for you for free.

Batteries cost around $200 in general.

Good point. Mine was no longer holding a charge because my serpentine belt was slipping due to a water pump leak. That was causing the battery to be charged improperly which destroyed its charging capacity.

Yeah that and oil dripping from power steering has had me before. on the ford falcon they have it sat above the alternator terrible design .

DieHard is a brand of automotive battery owned by Advance Auto Parts and sold exclusively at Advance, Carquest and Sears stores. Advance bought the DieHard brand from Sears in December 2019. The brand dates to 1967, having been developed by Globe-Union Battery for Sears.

Check where the new battery was made, it can make a difference.

Interstate batteries:

From Louisiana to Southern California the Interstate brand batteries are made by a Johnson Controls manufacturing plant in Monterrey, Mexico. In the other states, the batteries are made by Johnson Controls in the United States.

Also you can have the charging system checked, you can do that free at Autozone.

You bet, it may be something as simple as the corrosion at the post terminal or terminals. There are the flat, anti-corrosion disks that are placed over the posts that prevent corrosion. They can be purchased where you get the battery for few extra bucks.

A little known secret : Currently for the last 4 years , there are 3 , yes only 3 manufactures of batteries . Johnson Controls has the biggest market share . They even make Interstate and Die Hard batteries .

So there is only 1 way to go : Walmart . Why ? Longest warranty with dates that indicate how fresh they are . And lowest cost .

Go to Auto Zone - buying same battery for more money , less warranty .

Simple answer as nobody has a clue that all the name brands have been bought out .

Sidenote : We chopped up 1 Interstate and 1 Walmart batteries . Side by side , they have the EXACT same materials internally INCLUDING the posts and Electrolyte . The ONLY difference is the Color of the exterior case. The cases are the exact same plastics.

Ok everybody, I'd like to thank one and all for all your help in finding the right battery for my car. It's like for decades, my (WWII-Vet) father then myself only trusted Sears Diehard in the car battery dept., and they were good, for their time. But now, as someone mentioned earlier, it's like 2 co.'s putting out the same exact batteries anymore. Most are pretty good batteries.

Thanks again, going to definitely look into it. Been quite a while since I had to worry about this stuff. Diehard USED to be the best around. Now it is all one or 2 companies with the monopoly, they're all pretty much the same.

I'm an O'Reilly's fan myself.

Interstate battery

Just as an update, I managed to get a $50 credit through Diehard, so that was pretty decent. I put it toward a new battery with a 3 year warranty for $78, and they installed it for free so it ended up a win/win situation and I thank everybody for their input.

Maybe it will help someone else who is going through the same.

They are the best for the price...I buy used 6v golf cart batteries whenever I need to replace one in my battery bank, for solar...Golfers tend to buy a new set every season, when they last for years...
