Closing Face Book account, why so hard?

Many larger companies do this, especially when it comes to cancelling a free trial. In the past with both Amazon and Spotify I was very frustrated by how many links I had to click and how many circles I went in before I could actually cancel.

There's also no way, that I can see, to completely remove your facebook messenger account. Even if you shutdown your facebook profile there's no way to shutdown messenger. You can uninstall it (which I did) but people can still send you messages and will likely think you're ignoring them.

Edit: Yes there are instructions online, but since facebook's inception there has likely been a thousand different interface changes and procedure changes. Android does the same thing, so does Windows. The internet is littered with mostly useless instructions now.

To be fair, if you speak about a few "certain" type of topics, they'll close out your account for you.

This could be a great tactic if you know you want the account to remain inaccessible, without the temptation to ever go back to it.

Easy to shut your account down. Just get banned. I did it and it worked.

You can do it without saying "NASTY" things too. Change your name to something ridiculous...I changed mine to Regina George and put a picture of her movie character. I was banned within 2 days. I didn't have to say anything. They banned me for impersonating a fictional character blah blah blah...terms of service violation.

if your eally want out of facebook, just start being racist against whites super heavily with every comment you say.

I was about to say its not hard to find but then I realized I had to use a search engine to find out how.

If you search for 'permanently delete facebook account' however it shows up the first site on google and the third site on duckduckgo.

I barely used Facebook. Only to Private Message a few friends from other states.

But Facebook banned me for being in DC on January 6th.

I didnt bring my phone or anything but I did let two individuals know that I am safe via private messaging.

Nothing posted publicly.

But FB scoured private messages and nuked those that were there or suspected of being there.

I tried to delete mine and now I have 2 lolzzz.

I was surprised how the motley fool cancelled my renewal with no hassle via an email message. I fully expected to have to call them and plead my case given their marketing strategy of spamming products they try to upsell but I'll give them credit for that.

Try to cancel sirius or dish or anything like that...just tell them you're going to prison. ;)

The first month after I closed mine it kept reopening itself and I had to keep closing it.

Had to do with other sites using the login.

No. People get in so much trouble from friends and customers when they post controversial opinions under their own true names. Some are fired or go out of business from just one or two posts.

It's damn shame what is happening to mankind because of a few handfuls of rotten, despicable things.:(

Yea, it's not easy. But I did it a few months ago, and haven't looked back. Turning off something like that is a blessing.

Doesn't always mean it's a good person. It means the person who has had the biggest effect on the world, good or bad.

Google, Twitter and Facebook all hold all of your activity for years even after you delete them. The sooner you'll delete them the better and be careful what you say on the Internet. You might think that you have rights to say certain things and hence you say things right now. However, when SHTF, they will be looking for the people they need to purge and they will be getting all of the records from the social media sites. Then they will analyze everything and will find their targets for purging.

An intelligent post and a practical solution to Facebook problems.
