Yesterday I made a Euclidean sequencer for drums on ipad and the good thing is the app sounds rather acoustic but with the ability to keep progressing or switch to completly different rythums without having to program patterns in advance and because its euclidean its always a rythum. With drums sorted I can then play an array of synths, pianos or even Swam instruments which are brass trumpets at the mo. Son to be strings. These are well modelled. Whilst having a voice input and also digital synth versions of a soma lyra 8. Plus audio samples or tracks. Plus a deck on the side. All in a metre space like im in an ultra convienient flight simulator. Some people who are into music that sounds like bands or a jazz session. You wouldnt know its made on an ipad. Music I make though isnt really music at the mo but I could still be a worthy addition to a band somehow. Its also saved my 10k if you include its got Eurorack which is a minimum of 4k. Soma lyra 8 at £599 each. Elektron goodness of say Octatrack and thats not even adding the fact you can load as many of the same your device can handle. So 20 Mononokes ( digital version of a lyra ) 12k. Id only consider a eurorack unit if I were rich but wouldnt sell current rig. Probably wouldnt even swap rig for a eurorack rig. Even though ipad can be annoying. Its all about midi controllers so you dont feel like you work for walmart. There were the guy who bought a tube amp for 3k. He could have gained 1000s in virtual stuff like I described. Bought a nembrini app or something for ipad. Eventide apps plus others and still had 1000s in the bank. Quoting: Sigma Doka I like synths too, I have a cheapie synth keyboard midi input I use with GarageBand sometimes, but so far I kinda suck at making a full music track. Thanks for sharing your setup, sounds like a decent rig. Aether for the Soul [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] |

Thanks for sharing your setup, sounds like a decent rig. Thanks. Its ok I guess. The euclidean drums if cool. Will keep me interested because they just automatically roll. You adjust the rythums via a midi controller array of knobs and then adjust sounds via screen. So not having to put drum patterns on to a sequencer. This might be detrimental because I sometimes record too long sessions of just noise or synth tweaking. Evolving drums will just add to that but Im not complaining. Id rather it be interesting for me then sit about editing a grid for money. |

Thanks for sharing your setup, sounds like a decent rig. The best deal for music making. A $300 dollar ipad, which is as powerful as my air 3. Next standard ipad will be more powerful for $300. Something like a zoom u24 or 44 if you need a guitar input. This will be so sound and recording will be better than ipads. Some superlux headphones and drambo. Its up to you if you need controllers. Keys for sure or people opt for a lanchpad mk3 because its still good for keys. Good for beat input. Will be good for abelton style clip launching. Then its up to you if you want to buy synths etc because Drambo as a host can p-lock synth parameters but Drambo is a place where you can easily build your own synths also and has synths like wavetable synthesis ( which is like cheating ) Its also the app with the euclidean sequencer. I have it mapped to knobs for live but theres no need to always play live because a track not live can be more polished and Drambo has patterns and p-locks. I still load Drambo into aum though ( aum as a host ) I just lose ability to p-lock auv3/apps/plugins I bought but can p-lock drums as they are in Drambo. Plus Tb Morphit to correct your headphones. |
