Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Spy satellite resolution from Trump's 2019 tweet of a failed N Korean launch 0.4 inch pixel resolution is what Scott Manley estimates. USA-224 AKA NROL-49 is what they figure is the ID of the satellite, which is essentially a Hubble telescope pointed to Earth. NROL-71 is a newer generation satellite, so he figures this satellite's capability is declassified as it is "older tech" from a 10 yr old satellite. :) People criticized the President for releasing the photo, but you can see a blacked out square on the image, indicating it received a security review. This was a cellphone pic of the real image. I'm guessing the real resolution is even better, although he figures he knows the size of the mirror, which if you have a physics background, dictates the maximum possible theoretical resolution. Also, some cool launch vids. Last Edited by JustmeTX on 04/05/2021 06:45 AMJustme |
