Looking at Idaho as my next search for a Doomstead/Off grid home, where is the best areas not to remote and not harsh winters..

Western Idaho around Lewiston has good summers and winters..

Yes far north in Idaho it does get worse..

I was born and raised in Iowa during the 70"s you don't know how bad winters can be, I even lived in Navy barracks next to lake Michigan in the winter now that's bad very bad..
[wind and cold so bad we had snow inside the room on window seals everyday, you could never get warm enough]

Winters around Lewiston look easy and warm compared to those..
