They've been prepping us for this by stating that Russian subs ate active in an area where the trans Atlantic fiber optic cables are run.
They will take internet down and freeze banking claiming that until the cable is repaired there is nothing they can do.
They will then go on to say that Russia has scattered mines all around the cable and it is just to dangerous to repair.
Quoting: OU8122 The counter argument for "Why not use those submarine destroying depth charges for the underwater mines?" will be "Because the Internet backbone cable between the U.S. and Russia is on the ocean floor. The ocean floor being at least three miles deep.". Anymore counter arguments will simply devolve into Disney-esque excuses and/or nonsense. Joe Biden's White House PR woman may very well call upon Marvel and/or DC Comics for better answers live on TV.
