The ignition of the atmosphere WAS once a fear during the building of fusion bombs. Testing in the bikini atolls showed that sometimes yields were much larger than expected. In 1954, the “Castle Bravo” test exceeded the expected yield by 200%! But read here: [ link to large.stanford.edu] Atmospheric ignition isn't a real phenomenon. Happy Monday. To add to this if we could start the atmosphere on fire by accident it wouldve happened during operation fishbowl and yet it didn't. Maybe all the nukes going off at once but if you study the yields on the high altitude tests during fishbowl it's safe to say if that didn't do it nothing will.
