I beat long odds by being born, exceeded all expectations by making it to the ripe old age of 21 and have survived numerous violent incidents since which would have killed most people and should by all rights have killed me.

I only have two that come to mind...

Was 20 years old when I was in the bad of a truck that flipped three times. Walked away with a bruise on my leg.

25 years old or so, A near head on collision at 80mph. I was driving a Pontiac Sunfire, opposing car was driving a mid-80s Crown Victoria. I fell asleep, we slapped sideview mirrors. Pretty sure that little Sunfire would have just exploded.

Countless drug and alcohol events. Been sober for over 10 years now.

Congratulations on that!
Well done.

That is a very hard thing to do that few accomplish.

I drank booze and took Xanex, together, abusing both, for far too long. Never died. I quit cold turkey (both at the same time) 10 years ago. Should have died but didn't.

I am sure some of you have even died before. If so, welcome back.

Yes. I had severe pneumonia when I was little. High fevers, hospital, packed in ice. Left me with weakened lungs and my skin is dry always. They said it was a wonder that I survived the fevers. I was only 3 or 4 but remember some of it. I kept getting pneumonia every year after that until I was older but never again that bad.

Re: Have you cheated DEATH before?
One day I was sleeping and woke up to the sound of heavy wind and small branches hitting the roof. I decide to get up and look out the window, and as soon as I do I hear the loud sound of a tree cracking and notice the tree outside the window was starting to fall towards me, I ran and jumped across the room before the tree crashed into the house.

Another time I was with a group of idiots trespassing on someone's property to smoke weed. I didn't realize we were trespassing because we parked along a road and followed a trail onto the property, and there were no fences or signs. All of a sudden one of the kids starts yelling "Run!" and the property owner started shooting at us as we ran into the woods.

Maybe a half-dozen times. Nobody here has died before unless they've been resuscitated. This is planet earth, April 7th 2021 in my corner of the world.

I have however noticed that half of the Hollyweird/music industry complex thinks it's dead.

I was in a 150ft tug boat a 100 miles from New Orleans when hurricane Katrina came in. The whole event lasted around 2 to 3 days. Wave action was just unbelievable. As close as I can describe it is like the Movie a Perfect Storm.

You could use the Sat Phone to call home to make your final good byes. Not about to call the Ex wife and I wasn't going to talk to the kids since they were small and wouldn't understand. I had no one to call.

Gave me a Whole new out look on life afterward.

Re: Have you cheated DEATH before?
a few different experiences. when i was 11 in mexico at the villa we had rented, was walking barefoot and what occurred was in nano seconds, as i was swiftly walking.

time froze and then slowed down to near frozen. my mind had the clear outline of a scorpion, with its curved tail, under my foot, and it was translated into the image from the energy field under my foot. i was walking swiftly but time froze and i leapt back.

my father, who was a grade 7, science and math major, teacher, had non toxic Okanagan scorpions in his classroom, and had seen them for years as he often drove us home after school during our primary grades.

he refused, had some kind of denial or block, to accept that the scorpion that i had nearly stepped on was an actual scorpion though nothing on the planet except a scorpion looks like that.

everyone was shocked as he callously, carelessly, scooped it up in a frying pan and took it to the manager of the motels only to be told that this was the most poisonous scorpion in the region.

had i stepped on it, would have died within 30 minutes and the nearest treatment center was over an hour away.

that is just one of many interventions.

Re: Have you cheated DEATH before?
i remembered two more times. when i was a kid i was quite some distance from a stump being dynamited and the ground was wet. well the whole ground lifted with the stump and when the ground went back down the stump and a ton of log sized roots came flying out. and a 6 footer landed mere feet from me. probably about 100 yds it flew. I was standing near the back corner of the farm house.

the other time was when i was a kid and we would sled tied to the back of a old suburban. well this tiem my dad took a truck hood and chained it to the back of the suburban and it was way too long. so after me and my 12 year old older brother had been riding for a while my dad has my brother drive. we go across the field once and in the corner my brother cuts it too much and the chain goes slack and crosses back on to the hood my dad yells run but get caught in the chain and takes off getting drug like in a western. my brother takes him a ways off and turns around and is giving me the most curious look as im waving my arms around. dad came out only really sore for a while.

Re: Have you cheated DEATH before?
October 1983 Island of Grenada. US military. Choppers landed and we got out and were supposed to run to a tree line. LZ (Landing zone) was supposed to be cold (no enemy fire) but it was hot as hell.

My RTO (radio telephone operator) was missing when we hit the jungle off the LZ and I needed to call into my CO and tell him the LZ was hot and to go to the alternate LZ but could not find my RTO.

All of a sudden we see him in the middle of the drop zone inside a swampy oily mess like quick sand. I run out to him and the dam oil was boiling, bubbles all around. He was screaming bloody murder. I pulled him out thinking he was burning up (Grenada is a volcanic island) and when we got to the tree line, told the medic to attend to him cause I thought he had burns. He turned to me and said “sir, that was not hot oil I was in, those were rounds hitting the pit I was in”. Enemy was trying to take both of us out.

I realized right when he said that that my right leg was soaking wet and my side was hurting like hell. Loosened up my line gear, stuck my hand down my side and my hand was soaked in blood. I had been shot, but luckily the round hit my canteen that splintered off and the metal from my canteen cup had pierced my side. I got dizzy and passed out. Luckily I didn’t lose much blood and the medics had me patched up pretty quick. Crazy that with dozens and dozens of rounds that were fired at us, I was the only one that got shot and it just barely grazed me.

No, I don't have the power to cheat death...

The right question is, have I ever tasted the death of the grave...

Yes I have

Many times I have been saved.from.certain death...

A chain saw.event

A head on collision with Tree stumps that were full on trees a.week prior to the head on collision...

That's just a couple events but that doesn't mean I cheated death or got lucky...

In both of those events I was protected from GUARANTEED harm...

Re: Have you cheated DEATH before?
many many many but one towards or at the top of the list was letting a friend drive my car not knowing she was going to drive so fast that she lost control of the car running off the highway into a ditch , flipping at least three times landing upside down with strong fumes of gasoline knowing that my friend was smoking before the accident. we had to roll the windows down to get out of the car.

it never caught fire and all 3 of us walked away. the worst thing is the driver friend had a couple stitches put in her head but she was otherwise fine.

here's where it gets weird. an ambulance was called and it took us to the hospital. on the way there they took our blood pressure. my friends went first and they got their results.
my turn came and the machine registered no numbers. they tried again, same results. i joked that i guess i'm dead.
the emt's couldn't believe we were all so jovial. we were just amazed to be alive.

nobody was wearing a seat belt, it was centrifugal force that kept us in our seats while flipping. brownsville, tennessee, 1991

My first ~120mph wheelie into a 10-second tank slapper definitely scared me the most. That wobble had my life flashing...
 Quoting: REaliZe

i jumped a canal bridge at 85mph, got air about height of a small house, crossed it up mid-flight and nailed the landing only to get into a moderate tank slapper, no fun. probably the dumbest thing i ever did on a bike.

i have never owned a bike capable of 120mph wheelies and likely never will cause i know what would happen peace

This is why there was an adjustable steering dampener on my first gen ZX-10R. The wheelbase of a 600 with nearly 200hp (modified) and 200mph capability. It did make the steering heavy at low speed but kept me alive.
