I don’t understand it either. The most vulnerable, most in need of our deepest protections and care seem to be the most often overlooked or abandoned. People truly treat children like cats. Some have them, some don’t. Of those that don’t, there are a few that want them, but they can’t...while the rest openly hate them. Some aren’t kind to their own or those of others. People treat them like a burden. Abandon and neglect them. Some are cruel for fun. Most see strays as a plague that need to be destroyed.

I don’t know...it’s a terrible comparison, I guess. The point being, what got so whacked along the way, that what should be one of our deepest, strongest instincts as a species seemed to just vanish? I’ll never understand. I’ll never understand the callous cruelty...from abortion on up. I don’t think we should HAVE to understand...much less tolerate it.
