There’s a lot of ‘free’ money flowing around right now. Consumers are gobbling up everything they see as an investment.

Invest in your home? Building materials and home prices skyrocket
Invest in crypto? Prices soar
Invest in the stock market? Market is on fire!
Invest in ‘collectibles?’ Daily records being set for comic books and sports cards
Invest in precious metals? Inventories wiped out. No physical to be had.

It’s classic supply and demand, and demand is INSANE right now.

Re: Unable to buy physical silver at any price in the world's largest city for the first time in 15 years.
I have been an on-and-off investor in physical precious metals. For years I had a network of brokers and vendors I would buy from and sell to.

This month I decided to buy some bars of silver for the first time in some years.

Nothing. Nada. Zip. Every store, every dealer, every metalsmith is tapped the fuck out.

First time this has been the case since I started buying and selling metals a decade and a half ago.

What the literal fuck?

So it looks like roughly $300 or $2,950 each for 10 oz. or 100 oz. bars respectively.....,
.
Couldn’t you instead just rush in to your local jeweler chain store and buy up that amount in silver jewelry?
Same stuff, no?

I was in one recently.
Stock under the glass appeared plentiful.......

Not the same. Jewelry is sterling. Sterling is 92.5% silver. Not bad, but youre gonna pay ALOT more than 30/oz buying it. With Jewelry youre paying for craftsmanship, nor just silver.

Bullion is 99.9% minimum silver content. Plenty available online for 30 an oz from reputable dealers.

The new bottom for spot seems to be around 25.

Had never looked into that market.
Given that, I’d rather shell for slvr bars over slvr jewelry as well.
Online sounds like the best source giiven the apparent localized shortages, however the homework done needs to be thorough to avoid scams or BS delays.

Any reputable sites listed would be a plus in here.

Somebody needs to get to the bottom of the pricing scheme and eliminate the corruption.

I guess ultimately it would have to be the govt that does it, in which case it can’t happen since they the perps.

There is so much silver in the market that miners and other sellers dump it at any price, they are just happy to get rid of it.

eBay. You’ll pay a premium bc of fees. But there’s always supply and demand meeting at a fair market price.

Legal Tender is meaningless now. Noone but collectors care, because everyone sees whats happening.

Pre 1964 coins are 90%. Melt value of a quarter is about 5 dollars right now. Id hold on to those as they will increase in value al8ng with every other precious metal.

Interesting.

You cannot even buy their own pressed 1oz Texas silver rounds from Texas Precious Metals right now. They are all Out Of Stock. [link to www.texmetals.com (secure)]

Something is off.... yet the price of silver is still being kept around US$25/Oz That's artificial for sure.

Re: Unable to buy physical silver at any price in the world's largest city for the first time in 15 years.
I find this narrative very hard to believe. Someone is promoting/pumping silver purchases. Dont get me wrong, I understand online brokers can not fill orders if they cants get stock below spot. I also understand they are buying back silver at higher prices than they would like, so premiums are high. I can tell you I walked into my local jewelry shop yesterday and bought 100 1 oz rounds for less than $2800. Remember investment silver is less than 1% of demand. The silver institute is paying people to promote silver. The program is listed right on their website and you can make money promoting silver if you have a website.
