Wow you are completely misunderstanding the verse and taking it out of context. Read the entirety of the passage.

Jesus was saying that if anyone loves their own life or family or worldly possessions, MORE than God , then they cannot follow Him.

He wasn't saying to literally hate or despise people , He said anyone who hates their brother is a murderer.

Matthew 5:43-44

“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,

Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

Pilate said that because even he knew Jesus was innocent.
