I know this might sound strange, and maybe it doesn't work, but volunteer at a restaurant. Wash windows, sweep the floors. I read that many times the volunteer will be given a job. The reason I suggested a restaurant is because you'll have something to eat.

FOUND the solution here. So OP, assuming that your record is cleaner than this person, OP-
1-Find a bank or credit-union handing-out small business grants and loans. (there are literally trillions available.) You are going to need about a hundred grand to cover your salaries minimum.
2-The way you use the $$ is by HIRING THIS person. Now your business has 2 employees.
3-Make part of your work doing the red-tape, keeping-up with record-keeping, payroll. If you don't like doing that let that be Amazon person's job.
4-Amazon person knows how to work and ship things.
5-List and sell some things on Amazon and Ebay.
6-Ship when sold immediately keep an eye on ratings.
7-make some tik-tok or youtube videos about your work and monetize.
8-gamble sparingly. Don't be greedy or expect the big prize, take the loot and scoot. If you lose ten dollars you are done for the day. If you win twenty dollars you are done for the day but somewhere in there you have a chance at a nice jackpot. (think 3-700 it happens about 4 times a year if you play this system.)

Yeah, but somehow he pulled it off.

People are good and have compassion for the most part and I've no doubt this person could get help if he were humble and sincere, but nobody has sympathy for somebody with an overly huge chip on their shoulder.

It is a sad situation but something tells me this guy is going to have to learn the hard way. Hopefully he learns his lessons quickly because I don't wish that situation on anyone.

Some people don't have supportive families. I just went through 10 years of pure hell in a messy divorce and ended up in a shelter because my family wouldn't help. I lost my house, children and everything I've ever owned for the past 30 years. EVERYTHING.

I'm not a drug or alcohol addict and I committed no crimes. I was just all alone when my spouse had a midlife crisis.

I don't know OP's situation, but just wanted to add that "family" doesn't mean the same thing to all people.

I live in Iowa City but it sounds like you are in Florida now? Do you have a car? If not get a bike from a dumpster and you can always find a place to camp near the city. Find a place to shower for free. It sounds like you are not eligable for unemployment? Have you applied anyway here in Iowa? Can you pass a background check? There's tons of jobs here in Iowa city. Rent a room in a trailer for cheap, I can hook you up with a possible place.

At the risk of you snapping at me, I wanted to throw out the idea that maybe you can find a truck stop in your area. There are usually restaurants and showers there for truckers.

For example, in my location our truck stop has a diner and a Subway. It has several showers available. They are open 24 hours. Maybe you can try to get a job there so you have a way to shower and get dressed.

I know the Salvation Army and thrift stores have secondhand clothing. Go to the ones nearest the more affluent neighbors. You can always find some good quality stuff barely used.

I'm not sure what kind of trade your have experience in so this may not be applicable. You can make some fliers to put up in your local area offering your services. I see them all the time in the library, grocery stores and even in some restaurants.

You can call or visit some of the local shelters and the library to find out about resources available in your area. Not all shelters are for addicts.

You might want to consider talking to a counselor at a crisis center. They usually have a 24 hour phone number. Getting help during a crisis is important. Plus, the counselor will know about resources available that may not be widely advertised.

I've been there (messy divorce) and lost everything. I was homeless for almost six months. I applied for everything I possibly could and finally got approved for an apartment. They were really kind to me as I had NO income. They accepted a letter from my friend that she would cover my rent. They even lowered the amount because of my circumstances. My new neighbors helped me out with furniture too.

Like you, I don't have family. My family members are alive but they are abusive so no support there. In fact, they attacked me and I ended up in the hospital three times WHILE trying to get back on my feet. Some people are just awful human beings. The best we can do is rise above it.

Don't lose hope. I want to believe that you'll survive this and make it through. I have hope for you.

Get out of the city and head into the farming areas. Small farms can usually use some cheap labor, and may be willing give you some shelter and food for the labor. Small farmers usually have been through hell themselves, and have big hearts. They are also, usually, the people that have solid, golden rule upbringing, so shoot straight with you, even if it’s sometimes brutally honest.
