Thanks for the update. Get some good street food from the Chicago street food vendors!! (and stock up on some extra and some bottled water for the next leg of your journey)

Looking forward to your report on how the Chicago layover went once you are heading east out of Chicago.

Enjoy and stay safe!!

I'm not paying for train food, I paid for their water and their beer. 70 bucks for.. 4 beers 3 waters and a Gatorade so far.

So wait... beers are 10 bucks, waters 7, and Gatorade 9? Something like that?

THAT IS SO SERIOUSLY FUCKED UP! That's like... that's like strip club prices, Plato!

Damn, son. My heart goes out to you.

Enjoy Chicago. By the way, I think it was super nice of guitar ace to suggest smoking you out. I know he's super busy these days, so just the fact he would potentially make time from his schedule to help a fellow GLPer out is a very nice gesture, in my humble opinion.

Love this thread. Keep us updated as you see fit, OP

Cheers!

Thank you 10- 4 & Wilco! Really hoping for a nice burrito or some Indian food.

Than you on the reminder I need to get a lot of water. Been eating less because of the "water scarcity"
They have a little water fountain but its designed to be disgusting and dispense 2 oz f water per 5 min... lol that's why I buy the water

Stock up on water in Chicago and pack some cans of tuna or chicken in ur backpack. Or some pistachios or almonds..

I took a 6-pack of Coors with me, also.

I have family (an aunt and cousins in Boston/Wenham) but haven't been there to visit.

Stay safe and enjoy the trip out of the Midwest.

You can always escape the Massholes by visiting the Mainiacs further north in the moose-filled woods..

I'll be back in the town of the beans by tomorrow evening!!!! Thank you loves.

A note on mask enforcement-
In CA, super chill.. pretty much optional unless some germaphobe complaines... that was the conductors words.

Then the empire builder holy shit they were enforcing strict measures... idk man the midwest is fucked... blue tape, mask reminders every 5 min. Someone was putting pressure on them.

Now on the chicago train... totally different story. Not a word about masks yet. No conduc8has said "wear your mask " that ive heard since boarding. And some people aren't wearing one.

Kinda weird how In one region they freak out and in others nobody cares.

So... this virus is fake guys. Just fyi.

Masks are muzzles... its mind control.

Only wear one if.you have to as it's a sign of indentured servitude

Why the hell would you want to go to either. Stop off halfway and be a person.
 Quoting: MyShinyHiney

Uh. Because, the midwest is terrifying -have you ever been there? Nothing but corn fields and plenty of places to get dissapeared and never heard from again. Big open spaces no oceans and only white people. Yeah I'm good thanks!

Pretty relaxing especially at the higher speeds.

We have one conductor who is a mask nazi she actually woke me up during quiet hours to say slip your mask up over your nose... I literally got so close to telling her to fuckoff and die. .. but I wanna make it to beantown.....

You should have a mask for sleeping that you have cut some holes in to breathe.

Came late to the train party, but I agree, great thread! We took trains in Germany and always enjoyed it. I haven't been on Amtrak yet, and with the mask thing Im not sure I want to. Good for you, getting out and meeting folks and seeing the countryside! Heres to new adventures.

Where did you get that from??
No, fearful of the vast desolate emptiness... and highly dislike the lack of cultural representation... I like there to be many cultures around me.

Hey sorry i owe you guys a final update!

Thanks for asking, yeah it worked out pretty well.

I do not recommend amtrak to anyone, friend or mortal enemy.
Its unsuitable for even livestock transport. They need to go bankrupt and stop being a company forever.

Me though I'm lovely, saw my dad and best friend, they brought my car to the train then I took us out for dinner, we all got baked, ate good food, laughed a lot, now I'm crashing at my buddy's house for the night. Tomorrow we'll kick it, makeup for a lot of lost time.

Thanks again for sticking with me guys...it was pretty heroing experience, some cool stufand some shitty stuff.

The cloak definitely did its job protection from the evil forces.

Saw so many amish people... actually learned a bit about them.

That's a topic for another day....

Yeah so.. mission accomplished! I lived to tell the tale.

AND THEY ALL BLAH BLAH SOMETHING
HAPPILY EVER AFTER

THE END
