[If you’re not a Christian or believe in Jesus or if you don’t think someone should believe in Him then this post is not for you so please be respectful or kindly move along] Hi GLP, I’d really like to make a weird personal request. If Jesus Christ is real (and I really want that to be so!) then please pray that I come to know Him, that I might hear from Him or see Him, even if it’s in a dream, so that my faith can be made new. I tried to ask Him for a sign but He says in the Gospels that “An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas”. Well that’s definitely me and my generation for sure. As for the sign of Jonas, I’m 33 and I’ve been running from Gods calling for most of my entire life and now I just worry if this deafening silence when I try to seek for Jesus might be because the door of Grace has finally shut. Perhaps I committed some sin against the Holy Spirit somehow. But I try to pray and find Jesus to have a relationship with Him and it’s like He blocked me and changed His number! I definitely feel like I’ve been swallowed up in the belly of a great whale for sure and boy it stinks! I know that the ‘prayers of the righteous availeth much’ and my life is absolutely deadpan empty without my faith in Jesus and in Scripture and without the Holy Spirit fire so I’d very much like that to be renewed if at all possible. If you have a relationship with Jesus and know Him and commune with Him and sup with Him then I’d like to kindly and humbly ask you to speak to Him on my behalf and ask Him to come find me because I’ve been trying for a very long time and I keep hitting a brick wall and it’s crushing my spirit. I mean, it baffles my mind and sometimes it’s too much for me to wrap my head and my heart around but I know He will forgive me if I confess my sins to Him because He says so and I take Him at His Word but I just want to actually hear Him, I want to see Him or speak to Him, I want a vision or something I want Him to be made real in my heart and in my mind because my faith is absolutely crippled and it’s so hard for me to believe He exists but I’m trying to hang onto Him for dear life but it’s hard when I don’t even know He is there.

Jesus said before He ascended to heaven that He was sending the Holy Spirit to be with us. The comforter and remembrancer. Signs and winks/nudges are all around you. Ask Him to help you see and appreciate them. Start by thanking God/Jesus for every good thing in your life and you’ll start to notice and remember. Every good thing you’ve ever had happen or funny feeling that turned a catastrophe into a close call is how it works. If you think you need more than that, you’re setting yourself up to be deceived or are just looking for excuses not to believe. Read the Bible daily no matter what you think or feel. It is an act of faith that will be rewarded. Eventually you’ll have an aha moment.

The biggest reason many fail to "seal the deal" is the failure to allow the spirit in, to give up control of your life. It is a conscious decision that is not easily made. Denying the spirit is not the same as denying Jesus. You need to accept both. You can do it. Nothing true about Christianity end of story. I’m going to write this down in my journal and make it my new regimen. That was exactly the Scripture I needed. I always felt like something was wrong with me because the spiritual leaders I had growing up with various churches gave me the impression that Jesus speaks to us in prayer and worship and that He might speak to me or I would see Him and have a walk with Him but like the poster above you said, maybe it’s not about that, maybe I won’t ever see Him or hear Him audibly this side of Heaven or until He returns but that outline you gave is exactly what I need to renew and revitalize my faith. I’d like to learn how to do so without having to experience something like jail if at all possible. Is it literal inaction? Stop striving stop trying to figure life out on my own and just be still and wait for the Spirit like the disciples in the upper room? I hate my life very much already so I would give it up gladly if I knew I could experience a closer relationship with Jesus but I don’t quite understand the praxis.

Please let the realization of Your love and kindness for your friend G.F. grow throughout his lifetime. Let him know the moment that he turns a matter over to You that he wins the test even when he seems to fail. God, let his time of prayer with You be interactive and real. It really works and has helped me many times. Also, make it a habit to pray every day. We pray just before our meals, and we include "Our Father in Heaven" prayer. It is powerful, too. Get into the habit of reading the Bible. Finally, before going to sleep pray to Him. Ask Him to enter your life. PS I have seen Jesus in my dream once - he told me "When you are said, I am sad." What happens is, God answers prayers that YOU REQEST! YOU have to request these prayers and it is YOUR FAITH IN HIM that alleviates your suffering of not knowing God. I have faith, God blesses me, because I believe in Him and His presence IN MY LIFE! He guides me, instructs me and helps me through many difficulties because of my faith!!!! I'll pray but you are the main important part that must have "faith" to be relieved of what your going through. God Bless and keep you in His living hands... *Just prayed for you!* Living has taught me one thing; nothing is certain...except salvation through Jesus Christ!
