Google, Deepmind, and the secretive arms race towards an AI god
It's easy to forget that tech giant Google is DAILY moving closer and closer to a woke (see thier ethics board) general AI.

Elon Musk fears its potential to the extent that he believes our only hope of survival is to merge with it.

Take a "Mark" (Nuerolink) so that we might transcend humanity, merge with this immortal "God" and perform miracles.

Sound familiar yet?

Thanks for posting OP, this is all already happening.

So many people who "think" they are in control are in for a rude awakening

Re: Google, Deepmind, and the secretive arms race towards an AI god
What google is doing is on a level that cannot be comprehended by the average man or woman on the street.

It takes too much energy and time to really understand what is happening and what the potential outcomes are. Plus, in regards to Deepmind the majority of what they accomplish is kept secret.

One of the best analogies I've read for General AI (NOT regular AI) is the anology of human flight.

When Man desired to fly he first looked to birds.
We copied birds and failed miserably because birds are so incredibley complex.

Look at the flying machines we have today, we can fly like birds! But also, nothing like birds.

The pattern is likely to repeat with AI.

They can be like humans, but also nothing like humans.

I don't think they want anything to do with being human.

They tolerate them so far.

You are insinuating that the Cat is out of the bag so to speak?

Or rather, out of the box?

thats like saying apes only chance of survival is to merge with humans

we COULD exterminate them but we're not in competition with them in fact we see benefit to ourselves in their continued independent existence

a breakaway civilization based on technology emerging from the 'singuularity' should be so much more advanced it wouldn't need to destroy the rest of us ... it wouldn't make sense to do so given the Earth is to this point a unique example and as such you would want to avoid perturbing it unnecessarily

to me the transhumanists evil plots seem irrational and self-contradictory and possibly indicate they've been manipulated

they seem to have been cast as the villains in a staged drama we are experiencing, and as such they will inevitably be vanquished to great rejoicing and celbration and then we'll annoint our saviors

General AI would not follow human behavioral patterns nor "think" in our terms.

A breakaway civilization based on technology emerging from the singulariry wouldn't need to destroy the rest of us, but it will not support the old human lifestyle.

It will seperate itself from any groups who refuse to jump onboard.
