That's funny -- married 28 years here and we've had our Grey for 22 years... We first saw her at the pet store as a tiny, fluffy thing in a little plastic container.  At first I thought she was a baby ferret.  We visited her every week and took her home once she was weaned, but she really wasn't eating that well so I continued to spoon feed her for a month or two.  We used to take her on trips and she seemed to like to travel.  Now, we have kids and there isn't room in the car for her cage, but we don't travel often and are never gone long...

Also, I spent some growing up years in Sarasota and still have family in Florida...

I totally got that regarding "Losing It"... when this whole covid thing broke out I went nuts with the insanity of it.... I could see from the beginning that something was totally wrong with the story we were being told and could hardly believe most everyone's seeming acceptance of it.... it's astonishing they keep getting away with it....

Wow! .... That is some parallel. When my wife brought Felicia home she was not completely feathered, I hand fed her 3 times a day for over 2 months, fortunately at the time I was not working too far away so I could come home at lunch.

The whole story is long and much more complicated, but if you are curious I would take the time to explain. We also had a Jenday Conure.

I really must try to attempt the breathing exercise on a regular basis. Unfortunately I have a difficult time developing beneficial habits.

Ha! we have a Green-Cheeked Conure.
Yeah, sure, if you feel like sharing I'm interested...

Back in early 90's I had mentioned several times to my wife that I really loved birds and preferred that over a dog or cat. Before we could go look she comes home one day with a Jenday Conure in early 94, I believe, from a person where she worked. It was an adorable creature, already almost a year old. We named what we thought was a male....Frenchy.

Frenchy though definitely bonded to my wife, leaving me a bit disappointed over time. Then, as a surprise, one day my wife comes home with an African Grey, also from a person where she worked. This time what we thought was a female we named Elise. I had my suspicions that she was a he because of the vocalizations.....I could whistle a tune daily for a week and Elise could repeat it.

I apologize, but I must go to bed, I am quite sleepy..... working out in the heat today and not sleeping well last night. I will continue in the morning
