Possibly. But some people are very stubborn and principled. I would tend to be like that. What is apparently not uncommon is the jury getting a holdout to agree to convict on one of the lesser charges. In other words, someone who wants not guilty on all counts getting convinced to vote guilty on the least serious crime in exchange for not guilty on all the other charges.
 Quoting: Corporal Punishment

Yeah but both the prosecution and the defense did their best during jury selection to weed out any stubborn and principled individuals.

I mean they had to find a dozen people that knew as little as possible about this case, and had yet to form any strong opinions.

That kinda means there's a good chance they're all idiots, kinda like the much sought after "undecided voter" during an election.

This is the picture those lying filth showed:

This occurs during the transitional period where he is being put on the ground.

I took this frame a few days ago from the same section of the video. I noted a point 14 seconds earlier where there was no restraint, so it is less than 14 seconds after the restraint has been applied (EDIT: it was 24 seconds after, so their clip was 12 seconds after the point before the restraint was applied):

The difference is you can't see where the lower leg bends. They somehow got this 'expert' to admit that the leg was draped against his shoulder blade as if the knee extends the length of the leg and we are dealing with 2 dimensionality. A few frames later they could have shown this picture.

This is exactly where it lay for the duration of the video as can be seen at several points. It was pinning down his upper arm just before the elbow and only mildly crossed his back, as this expert originally claimed.

I am no medical expert, so I don't know if it jabbing in the side of his ribs could have made it positionally more difficult to breathe, but even if it does it looks a whole lot less malicious than the prosecution alleges.

EDIT: The time frames suggest my image was 12 seconds after this one. But yeah, it was the transitional phase when he is getting lowered to the ground.

I really don't like liars and deceivers in authority. Lying makes sense when you're protecting your own ass or it is in personal affairs that are largely inconsequential. But how the hell can you lie and distort the truth when it comes to sending someone away for up to 40 years of their life? It is evil. I understand the prosecution has to serve their clients, but you can do it with the real evidence not embellish. And if you don't have that evidence, don't make it up. It's really that simple.

EDIT: I made a mistake. My clips started 24 seconds after the frame I took of him headed to the ground. So theirs is 12 seconds later but still 12 seconds earlier than the first picture and the second was +4 seconds on that. I am not getting paid for this, nor do I have a team.

Yea, they could execute Chauvin, bring George back to life, and give every black man, woman, and child a billion dollars, a huge hip hop record contract, a basketball scholarship, free fried chicken, grape soda, and water melon for the rest of their lives and their will still be riots and looting.

Maybe many of them just enjoy rioting and looting. They sure like to fight in McDonald's.

If Chauvin if acquitted, the shitshow will be worse than last summer.
 Quoting: codered44

Maybe. Maybe not-- maybe it will start off the same but this time the majority of decent Americans will be done putting up with this shit and demand that violent riots be handled the way they are supposed to be handled.

Either way, the threat of riots and looting is not a valid excuse to condemn a man by way of a coerced jury.

Just my opinion, of course.

ffs

Thanks for the heads up, OP. I hope the rest of the country can learn from what happens there-- in a good way, if possible. (Also, do I even want to know what 'kettling' is? If it's anything like teabagging then count me out!)

kettling is when they form a line with shields to block protestors

In order to secure a guilty verdict the jury has to be unanimous. Anything less is either a mistrial or not guilty.

And no, a mic-drop moment is not necessary... but it sure would be helpful! (Just my opinion, of course)
 Quoting: Wharf Rat

Actually both a guilty and not guilty (acquittal) require a unanimous verdict. A mistrial is if they can’t get every juror to agree. The court will pressure the jury to agree to a unanimous verdict. In other words they will tell them to keep considering the case.
 Quoting: Corporal Punishment

Close, but no cigar. If all jurors cannot agree, that's called a hung jury, and judges are loathe to allow that. If the foreman should declare that they cannot unanimously come to a verdict, the judge will instruct them to continue to deliberate over and over again until they decide unanimously.
 Quoting: ITSARICHMANSGAME

That’s what I said. If they can’t agree the court will pressure them to agree. Eventually though, if someone persistently holds out, the court will declare a mistrial due to a hung jury. Of course Minnesota could have some unique laws that are relevant to this issue.

Crap, I have to rescind my green on a technicality. If the jury cannot agree unanimously, it's a HUNG JURY! It is NOT a mistrial. They are 2 completely different legal concepts. I'm nitpicking, but that's what the legal realm is based on.
