That's what I've said for years. Why would they need lights?

I saw craft turn on and off certain lights which, at night completely change the appearance of the craft. I occasionally saw aircraft stop and hover in the sky, and for several minutes would emit very bright intense colors of red, green, blue, purple, yellow etc. For some reason I got the sense that those lighting displays were a form of communication. These lights are one of two things IMO. Real intelligent life forms that can manipulate the foundations of this material realm, or a higher power entering the " video game" and just messing with us I agree. But I am open to one more option - that these intelligent physical entities derive their existence from a (dark) spiritual entity, which is why the craft appear to perform beyond the physical limitations imposed on humans. I can verify your statement with my experiences. The telepathic aspect and the timing of when these lights would show up were key to thinking they are nefarious. If you study something called "Marley Woods" you will see what they are capable of. I lived close to there and it's no joke.
