I think it's less likely that he got the CJD from eating
tainted meat than it is that he got it from a vaccine.

There have been incidents where countries have tried to use the fetal bovine serum from cattle in infected countries
and in Ireland a person donated blood serum for vaccine development who later came down with CJD!

There is also the possibility that he acquired it from an
experimental vaccine -since they can use themselves as guinea
pigs.
