If UN forces set foot on US soil to try and secure anything or take anything over they would be crushed by militias, vets and bubbas. It’s true. It stopped nuclear war during the Cuban missile crisis. It’s also why we never have big asteroids hit. Well documented, they shut down the nukes.

Well, the US Stratcom message is clearly a warning to Russia that Ukraine will nuke them to defend against an overwhelming invasion force.

The really scary aspect in my opinion, is the Russian Dead Hand system. While we do not fully understand it, the idea is that this is an automated doomsday sort of defense, that will automatically launch on its big nuclear adversary (ie the USA), if it has been manually enabled and then detects signs of nuclear attack on Russia.

It was to be triggered by numerous sensors sensitive to light, seismic shock, radiation or barometric pressure.

So if Dead Hand has been activated or enabled, as I believe they said they did a few years ago, and if my summary above is correct, and if the Ukraine nukes those areas with the various sensors that indicate a nuclear attack on Russia...

Then the Russian fleet of nuclear missiles will automatically launch a full nuclear counter-attack on the USA, with the thinking that the Russian command structure has been destroyed, and their "Dead Hand" will hit us with everything they have.

The mechanics of the system are perhaps less interesting, but to complete the thought, the Dead Hand system launches a rocket that has all the nuclear launch codes. It flies a route that allows it to transmit the launch orders to all of their missile silos, thinking that the land based communications have been destroyed.

To a certain degree your correct. Humanity is not allowed to destroy the planet or make it so life cannot exist on the surface. What is allowed is a limited Nuclear exchange.. Limited would be exchanges of Nukes under 20 megatons each and no more than 200 detonated. Yes! that many spread out would dissipate and be absorbed. Point taken: During the 1950s Russia and the US tested over 200 Nukes per year with no effect on Earths biosphere.
