A while ago when all this shit started, there was a guy spamming this board asking why cops aren't equipped with ballistic riot shields, saying it would prevent a lot of this shit.

And although he was annoying, he was totally right. For $20 I would take on a half dozen knife wielding 15 year old girls in a row if I had a riot shield and I guarantee you I would come out without a scratch.

Yeah that's one way to look at it. We obviously don't have all the facts.

One of my cop buddies had a mentally ill guy pull a knife on him, he would have been totally justified in shooting but he knew the guy was fucked in the head.

Went hands on with him and got the knife away. Dude's locked up in a rubber room somewhere now.

It's one thing when it's a hardened criminal, and who knows maybe these were 15 year old gangbangers.

But considering today's events dude should have taken one for the team. Depending on how this plays out he may have gotten several other officers killed trying to save himself.

And I mean maybe I'm way off, perhaps there was stabbing already taking place and it was imminent or something obviously the media wants their riots and are probably giving us a "killed over air fresheners" moment here... but still.
