Is it normal for people to cut you off over your political beliefs?

I ask this because I expressed to one of my friends that I have a more traditional belief of the world /ideal society.

I don’t want anybody oppressed, ostracized, or harmed, but I don’t hate my own race nor do I believe in marriage other than between a man and a woman. When speaking of BLM, that was the final straw. He cut me off when I said I absolutely have no support for them.

One another friend brought this up to me, he told me that I need to understand that most people would do the same because my beliefs are extremely inflammatory. Sort of like saying I am in the wrong and everyone else is just being tolerant of my bigotry...

This entire time I thought I was putting up with them by hearing about the horrors of the white male, Christians, systemic racism, Chick-fil-A and their anti-LGBT stand points. I never let it influence my friendship. Little did I know that I wasn’t putting up with them, they were putting up with me..
