I got my Theta tokens using simpleswap.io, and it was very easy and straightforward.

I've also tried similar services to simpleswap, but they charge much higher transaction fees.

As for Tfuel, I'm running a Theta Edge Node (free to download from theta website) on Windows 10. You don't make much this way, but Theta transaction costs (using Tfuel) on their blockchain are miniscule, so you don't need much Tfuel at all.
