--I've suggested to posters to check it out on GLP before, on other movie threads, but I don't think anyone has taken my suggestion. You might, though.

As of a month ago it was on Prime, free to watch. It's on yt, for rent, $3.99 HD $2.99 SD......ooooh, I see I can buy it there for $10. I think I'm going to do that.

It's a little more towards being a B-film, but I think it's a fascinating movie....heh, I'm a fan of scifi B-films anyway, but this one isn't fully immersed in B-film land.....

"The Gold Diggers of 1933" has one of the most outrageously funny scripts of all time as a groups of penniless and starving actresses try to swindle the money out of a bunch of super-rich bankers to put their show back on again. If you listen carefully to each line and you suddenly start thinking, "OMG, did she really just say that" in one cynical and damning cruel comment after another about wealth and poverty.

Pt even starts off with a purpose written song which is still famous today...

The opening song is such a damning and cynical commen on life, one verse is even sung in the gibberish Pig Latin a weird New York version of English just to demonstrate how ludicrous the economic system is.

"Courage Fuyons" is an absolutely outrageous comedy, which is almost more Pythonesque than Mpnty Python itself. For example,the main character's brother who works in TV, has a girlfriend who always says everything, even her most private and intimate things, directly into the camera just as if she were a news reader... which she is. The result is almost unnerving...



It really is one ludicrous situation after another perfectly performed.

This lost masterpiece was almost wiped out - when the production company went under, even the main master copy was lost and in 2010, I bought one of only 12 surviving copies of the VHS tapes known to exist. However, in 2017, it as digitally remastered from one of them and rereleased on Blu-Ray.

This is a fantastic movie which I have never understood why it was never remade by the Americans.

I have never laughed so much as during "Bringing Up Baby" about a rich heiress doing her best to win the heart of a stuffy paleotologist. But one nutcase thing follows another, not least as "Baby" is her pet, fully grown, panther.

"Oh Mr Porter" is an incredible comedy about a laughably pompous railway employee who is put in charge of an obscure Irish railway station where incompetence, graft and corruption is regarded as perfectly normal way to do business.
