The guy's wearing a mask outside, alone, so he probably had the vax and the bear knew it was poisoned meat

Mama was likely nearby. That was a yearling cub not old enough to leave her care. Cub didnt look too skinny so either mama died recently or he was nailing bird feeders, pet food and trash bins and doing well with those.

Somewhat similar to my personal experience. It was about 1991. I was hunting for deer and bear in northern California.

I was walking very quietly down a game trail near the Pacific Crest Trail. Imagine Elmer Fudd hunting wabbits.

I was stepping high and silently, careful to not make a sound.

There was grove of young conifers to my right.

As I cleared the end of the grove, I looked and there was a black bear, about 300 lbs. walking EXACTLY like I was. He emerged from the grove as I came into sight.

He spun around in an instant and disappeared into the grove.

No filling my tag on that hunt.

Fun times!
