Latino Man Dead After Alameda Police Restrain Him On Ground

"Mario Gonzalez of Oakland died April 19 after what police previously called a "scuffle" with officers. The Alameda Police Department said Gonzalez suffered some sort of "medical emergency" after an interaction with police."

You would think that cops would avoid putting a guy face down in cuffs with a knee on his back while the fucking jury was in deliberations on the Floyd verdict.

Just watched the interaction and aftermath. This is not even close to the Chauven situation....no comparison...

It is human nature to not want to be restrained, especially if you have a mental issue or are intoxicated. That guy was not a threat and barely knew what the hell was going on.

there was no need or cause for the police to be harassing that man and then doing something that led to his death.

The guy is clearly overweight and putting him face down with all that body weight is not good. This method has to be stopped.

The man was calm and talking to them. They did not need to restrain him.

On one hand, I agree with you. On the other hand, the environment is so hostile nowadays and things can escalate so quickly that if I were a cop in that position, I'd do the same.

Then again, if I were a cop right now, I'd quit. The liability is not worth the pay. Maybe that's why the only ones left are the bullies on a power trip? Because Makiyah Bryant type incidents drive away all of the good ones?
