Pet Insurance
I know this isn’t conspiracy related however it is an important question.

Does anyone have insurance for their dogs? If you do what company do you use and do you like it?

I have a 1 year old Dutch Shepherd that has had gastrointestinal issues and it’s getting costly.

Thanks for any help.

Re: Pet Insurance
Depending on what you consider costly. I had pet insurance for my dog and it cost more than my car insurance. I know my dog is not worth as much as my car. (dollar wise)

Re: Pet Insurance
Trupanion for our DDR German Shepherd. We bought it as soon as we brought her home at eight weeks old. After having multiple costly issues with our senior dog, we felt the cost was worth it should she need care down the road. A family member has used Trupanion for years and has had nothing but great experiences with them.

Edit: our DDR is now 16 months old and we haven't needed to use the insurance yet, but we are glad we have it.

"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren. Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified."

2 times to the emergency vet in about 5 months for a total of $6,000. That’s what I consider costly.

That would most likely be considered a preexisting condition.
I once calculated the cost of the insurance (premiums plus deductible) and it came to about $3k for the life of the dog, which is about what a major operation would cost. So I opted not.
Another option is CareCredit card, specifically for vet. High interest but it does give that extra $3k or so in times of need.

You might also look for a different vet in a rural area. Procedures which would have cost $3000 in Toronto I was able to get done in Erie PA for $700.
