I refuse to see any mental health specialist that wasn't born and raised in the United States...I most especially won't see a therapist who wasn't. I am of the strong opinion that school just cannot teach a person about certain cultural aspects of a person's experience.
How can an Asian understand what it is like to be "whooped" by their Mamaw in the swamps of East Texas or any of the other cultural experiences someone of a given background might experience. School can only teach SO MUCH.
