It will simply burn up on entry. It wont get anywhere near land or sea. This is simple knowledge of the subject. Whoever wrote the story needs more exposure to science and to crack a book.

This is why I never believe those posters who claim collisions with asteroids or other space objects and lay a claim to exactly where and when it will hit. Experts can never even figure out where satellites (in this case a rocket) will hit when it's falling out of orbit just above the Earth's surface.

Pick the worst-case scenario for it to land, and that is where I predict it will land. Maximum-doom landing.

And China needs to learn that Made in China isn't just a running gag when it comes to rocket science. Don't cut corners or they will cut you.

It's a complex subject few here understand. A decaying satellite is being gradually dragged down by earth's atmosphere, but the exact density of the tenuous upper atmosphere will vary with solar activity and the amount of drag will vary with the attitude shape and density of the satellite. There are a lot of variables there, some of which change over time and are hard to accurately predict. This means the exact decay time is unknown. Right now, this site predicts a decay occurring one week from now, but with an uncertainty of 41 hours. That uncertainty will decrease as we get closer to the decay, but even within the last day there could still be one orbit or more of uncertainty.

With asteroid collisions, there is generally a region of uncertainty that may intersect with the earth and make it hard to predict an exact location, but if the impact does not occur within a fairly tight window of time then it will not occur at all as earth will not be at the intersection point when the asteroid crosses earth's orbit around the sun.
