Happens all the time, she's younger than him and now she's sick of an old man. She's got the money and now she's going to get some young D.

It's been in the works. She's said in interviews that it's difficult being married to him. They're under constant attack now from all sides for what they've done to humanity. The entire world hates them (their own doing) and they're getting a lot of threats. They never expected this and always thought of themselves as saviors. She probably sees the writing on the wall, is getting scared and wants to get out while she can. The only people they have to be scared of is us the peasants. Which we aren't about to grab our pitchforks and invade his castle, and even if we did we would be met by an army of government forces. They literally have nothing to fear accept people talking bad about them on their computers.
