I work with FedEx. I can tell you their standards are well below UPS. It's been so hard to hire lately that they are taking just about anyone with a clean driving record and that can pass a drug test. Standard starting wage is $12-18/hr, UPS is double that in this area (upper midwest). Some of their trucks shouldn't even be on the road - Broken frames, etc. Many of their "backup" vehicle's are just scary. I'm sure that's not everywhere but some carriers just cut the corners and cross the fingers.
