Actually Switzerland is quite ok (my country of permanent residence). The Swiss are the most racist people I've ever seen, and it's still considered acceptable.

Of course the liberal thinking is slowly penetrating even there, but it will take centuries in the catholic cantons.

Why? Because people are still believing in God, they go to church, kids are brought up in an environment where school & church go hand in hand. Everyone is a part of their own community, no matter if they like it or not. Some don't like it (suicide rates are high) but at least they have a communicty, with history and tradition.
