300 mile trip. Noted.

One way to the moon 240,000 miles. Noted.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 74598327

Ever heard of inertia? You can coast 99% of the trip.
"Why did you have to go and make things so complicated?" -Avirl

Keep It Simple, Stupid.

The answer is easy once you know the question... But first, the correct question is very difficult to discover.
...For the answer is singular, but questions themselves are multitude.

Re: SpaceX Starship SN15 launch today - update- sticks landing
I would put a small LIN tank inside that rocket somewhere and open the liquid dump valve when it lands. Mix in a little Halon as well.

That should put a stop to that little fire in a hurry.
 Quoting: Justme C'est Moi

Since they have their navigation and control systems spot on, I'd figure that a nitrogen flooding system at the pad might work and save the weight of any on-board system. This problem would not happen on the moon or Mars, since there's not enough atmosphere or O2 to sustain combustion.

Agreed. Can't imagine why they haven't done so already.
If they need a good cryogenic engineer, I am available. :)

For those interested, should be a good show.

If you just want to see the launch and landing click the second video below (SpaceX link)

Launch at about
6:25

Landing at about 12:10

this is so fake it is not even funny.

Look at this video:
[link to youtu.be (secure)]

Elon could not design engine with enough trust, so he went to Russian and got few old engines from them. Rebuilt them reverse engineer and he flies them now.

Just check how many engines was needed to actually fly to the moon.

Elon's rocket is empty inside with just enough fuel to go 80-100km (if) up in the air, deploy helium balloon and drop down.

That thing is not flying anywhere far.

Earth is not flat.

It's all theatrics to keep the dumb entertained and make them believe progress is being made.
In reality, nobody has been into 'space' because it's all a giant lie.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 79008265

Excuse. Please remind me again why we are suppose to just believe what you think.
 Quoting: ModelerX

Well in all fairness you think you're just supposed to believe what Nasa/Disney tell you to think even though they have nothing but cgi and hollywood effects to display.
If it isn't in The Bible then it is just conspiracy theory.

Ummm... why do you feel the need to include that "the earth is not flat"?

Given your certainty... care to provide proof for the rest of us of actual shape of the earth?

Cheers

Amazing! This is the best news we've had since the starship program began! It's not even on the front page and should be pinned.

This particular maneuver is extremely difficult, yet critical to the SpaceX team being able to land off planet, and critical to easy reuse of such a large rocket.

As an engineer and entrepreneur, I have amazing respect for Elon Musk and the entire SpaceX team!

Five stars and pin request!

Agreed, was awesome to see them pull it off. Will be rad to see this develop over the next decade and see what kind of changes drastically dropping the cost of entry to space brings
