The protests started on Wednesday, when the largest trade unions called for a national strike to oppose the now shelved tax reform. Colombians take to the streets to oppose tax reform The government argued that the reform was key to mitigating Colombia's economic crisis. Its gross domestic product (GDP) dropped by 6.8% last year, the deepest crash in half a century, and the coronavirus pandemic has further driven up its unemployment rate. The proposed reform would have lowered the threshold at which salaries are taxed, affecting anyone with a monthly income of $656 (£470) or more. It would also have eliminated many of the current exemptions enjoyed by individuals, as well as increasing taxes imposed on businesses. It caused outrage among Colombians already battered by the pandemic and the protests were joined by many middle-class people who feared the changes could see them slip into poverty. |

They complain a lot about the president and the government. But they were elected, in regular elections that were apparently free and fair. Not "Dominionized". Duque is the elected president. I've seen videos of citizens praising the police from saving them and their cities from these thugs. It's basically BLM/Antifa type people who have organized big crowds of disaffected youth. Some of their complaints are very weak. "My university is indifferent to me!" For this, they do big marches. Government reported a couple days ago that the old drug cartels, which they've thrown out of Cali and Medellin, have been active again in these attempts to overthrow the government. . DON'T VAX, PROPHYLAX! ____________ There is no anger in Me: If one offers Me thorns and thistles, I will march to battle against him, And set all of them on fire. Thanks for the background. Sounds about right. In his poem Human Pride, Marx admits that his aim is not to improve the world, reform or revolutionize it, but simply to ruin it and enjoy it being ruined: With disdain I will throw my gauntlet full in the face of the world, And see the collapse of this pygmy giant whose fall will not stifle my ardor. Then will I wander godlike and victorious through the ruins of the world And, giving my words an active force, I will feel equal to the Creator. “Looking for consciousness in the brain is like looking in the radio for the announcer.” – Nasseim Haramein, Director of Research for the Resonance Project |

These men are seriously good at brick throwing, I don't know how they throw them maybe 100 feet. Cops are standing there protecting a building entrance. This was last night. The crowds push the police to the limit, the police have to fire, maybe a mistake is made and maybe not, but then the mob fastens on someone who got killed on their side and makes a big issue of it. Identical to BLM tactics in our country. They even do the raised fists. . You're absolutely right. About the cartels, the current main cocaine cartels in Colombia are the leftist guerrillas, Farc and ELN. They sell the drug to Mexican cartels. |
