The closest thing to a bug I'll eat is a crawfish. Lobsters and crabs are like big bugs but they seem less like eating a cicada or a cricket.

The Happening (2008) is a comedy horror movie. Annihilation (2018) is a genuine horror movie. Sure, both horror movies contain some of the dumbest characters ever put to film, but Annihilation gets alot of points for it's artistic interpretation of what Corruption truly is.

They haven't started to come out here yet, but a person on the GA Gardeners FB site took pics of some they had out already just a little west of here.

I like the sound of cicadas. We had them in my town in Upstate NY growing up. We'd find their shells on the ground.

It seems like grasshoppers are extinct here now. I rarely ever see one. I remember they were a lot more common decades ago.

I've enjoyed grasshoppers roasted with hot spice of some type. Not sure I'd be able to eat a cicada...and generally I'll eat anything I can outwit.

Not only do they taste like shrimp they share proteins. If you are allergic to shrimp you are allergic to bugs too. I found out about this the hard way at survival training. No anaphylaxis just a horrible rash in the Florida heat.

I can remember when I was a little girl in Georgia, and the cicadas would emerge. You couldn't sleep at night because it sounded like a dozen chainsaws going at it all night long. Our bugs are usually loud in the summer anyway, but those critters can buzzzzzzz!

I wouldn't eat them unless I was starving. The creepiest thing I ever ate was in England. "Jellied Eels"! Looked like Jello made out of dirty dish water with fat worms in it! At least I tried.

not jellied, but smoked eel is very good in Germany
