CRYPTO -- Are you new and wanting to get started?
Some advice...

I strongly recommend that you do a small ($5) test first because one mistake and all the money being transferred is lost forever (I think).

Do the test, if it works, repeat steps exactly.

Whatever it is you want to accomplish, do the test all the way through.

Double check addresses. They're usually very long, so check the first and last three characters as an error check.

There is no customer service in space.

SECURITY...

If your serious about crypto you should first invest in a hard wallet. I highly recommend the Ledger Nano or Trezor.

Being your own bank mean you are the sole responsible of keeping your wallet key safe.

In the case of the Ledger your key is a set of 24 words. Even if you lose your ledger, gets destroyed no matter what, as long as you have these 24 words your assets are safe.

Store these words a safe place, in several locations. You can lose your hardware wallets but if you lose these words, your assets are forever lost.

Also, if you're On an exchange like coin base, take advantage of their "vault" feature

Use robinhood for the bets. You can trade in and out of crypto at will without fees. You never really own it but you own the cash value of it.

Why would any self respecting individual do business with Robinhood after they scammed so many of their customer base.

Fail.

Good thread Opie, thanks.

Always good to start with a small amount. I know someone personally who screwed up an address in a way which could not be fixed. Sent a few thousand dollars off into the ether.

Oops.

You don't own anything on Robinhood if management can freeze accounts, cancel orders, arbitrarily hold funds, and execute orders against the desires of the end user.

It's a scam.

Not your keys, not holding the assets, not your crypto, not your money.

I was never in gamestop. That doesn't mean that if doge goes up to 2 or 3 bucks, they won't play the same scam but so far so good with them. Made 4 grand this week trading cryptos on there. After capital gains tax, still more than I make at my day job in profit.

Sorry to hear that! A hundred bucks is a hundred bucks and it's a shame to lose it that way. I'm glad it wasn't more than that.

My buddy learned his lesson and has been much more careful.

Is crypto an investment or money? I’d say it is speculation on a product which you hope will become money. None of them are money yet. Some are moving closer.

Thats what you wish it to be so that they can all be declared securities, unfortunately for you, that argument doesnt stand up to the Howey Test and this drawn out SEC V Ripple court drama could be solved in one day by using this standard. Any of these cryptos will fail all but 1 of the criteria for the most part... but thats all it takes. Centralized exchanges and banking are over, get used to it. The dirty little secet wall street is hiding is that they have secretly been training on the next financial system already and are encouraging and hoping for the stock market to crash.

The biggest joke of all is when you perish from this Earth, the only thing that is tested will be your heart. Was your heart in the right place during your life?.. Some will say “well yes, i took care of my family” or “well yeah, I gave to charity” etc etc etc. All thought originates in the mind, is refined by the heart, and is put into action by your spirit. “By their fruits, you shall know them.” Prosperity gospel and has equated fruits with success and fortune- nothing could be further from the truth. The Bible itself, and all other religious texts are a test of your heart and you will either take the Old Testament authoritarian path, the New Testaments liberal path, or MAYBE, just MAYBE you will dind the middle path. Just what was the story of the two thieves and Jesus at the cross about? Salvation? In a way. The message was that anyone can turn away from the path of evil by making a choice... anyone can also die in their arrogance and errors by not choosing to change.

You may can BS yourself but that doesn’t work with the Creator.. You will reap what you’ve sown in the hearts of yourself and all whose path you crossed with during your lifetime. THIS is why people live in denial.. instead of forgiveness, they numb themselves until they feel no more.. in care, in conscience, and ultimately, in the silence of Death.
