Why build a sand castle?

You can borrow the money from an infamous ethnic group known for their high-interest banking loans, then kick them out of the country when the loan comes due. Castles built for nobles help to ensure their loyalty and if your castle is on the continent, are quite essential vis-a-vis those nasty Mongols' occasional habit of slaughtering entire populations including those who surrender. Sooner or later you'll be hated by those whom you ruled over with such entitlement, even though you could remind them - and do - that the entitlement stemmed from an historic 1,000-year-old battlefield victory. When even the last vestiges of the entitlement succomb to massive unconforming immigration in the wake of depleting world wars which America's participation concluded, there go the sand castles. They don't really disappear but the only way to get any grudging respect for them is to whistle derisively at those who see them for what they are.
