No one knows. Nothing was written down during Jesus life time. All too muddled and manipulated for anyone in modern age to declare something true.

It is called faith for a reason.

Faith -strong belief in God or in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual apprehension rather than proof.

For that matter, are you saying that it wasn't possible that the Holy Spirit / Ghost brought 'remembrance' of what Jesus had said TO the writers?

That would be denying the supernarural.
