On May 19, 2021, the National Space Administration released the images taken by the Mars rover during the landing process of my country's first Mars exploration Tianwen-1 mission probe. In the image, the landing platform and the departure ramp of the "Zhu Rong" rover, solar wing, antenna and other mechanisms are deployed normally.

The picture above was taken by the front obstacle avoidance camera of the rover, facing the direction of the rover. It can be seen that the ramp mechanism is deployed normally; the two extension rods on the upper part of the image are subsurface radars that have been deployed in place; the terrain in the forward direction is clear.

In order to get a larger range of terrain information in the direction of the rover, the obstacle avoidance camera uses a large wide-angle lens. Under the influence of the wide-angle lens distortion, the distant horizon forms an arc.

The picture above was taken by a navigation camera, with the lens pointing to the rear of the rover. The figure shows that the rover’s solar wing and antenna are normally deployed; the surface texture of Mars is clear and the landform information is rich.

The image above was taken by the surveillance camera of the orbiter during the separation process of the landing patrol.

On May 15, after the Tianwen-1 mission landing patrol successfully soft-landed in the pre-selected landing zone in the southern Utopia Plain of Mars, the rover established ground communication. On May 17, the orbiter implemented the fourth near-fire brake and entered the relay communication orbit, establishing a stable relay communication link for the Mars rover, and successively sending back image data. At present, the rover is carrying out preparations for leaving the landing platform, and will select an opportunity to drive onto the surface of Mars and begin patrolling and exploration.

They put a solar cell on about every place possible. It's good to see China doing original design.
