They are going to dig and dig until they get everyone involved. There are federal crimes involved, either interstate or international drug trafficking or child trafficking/ prostitution and child pornography, something that is a federal rap. Could be official misconduct of some kind, or conspiracy.
It CANNOT be limited to just kidnapping and murder with the kid not be taken across state lines during the commission of the crime, , those are state crimes and the FBI has no jurisdiction to investigate them. The FBI PUSHED THE DALLAS PD OFF THIS CASE, COMPLETELY
They were relegated to traffic control during the search warrant being served and forensic examination of the meth house. I think thats got them pissed off , and is why they made these charges up,
