He is suffering from what is known as "fixed ideas" I believe. It seems an obsession.

Say you are right and the police asked the media to stfu so they can get to the real story. Fools like to talk. I say let them. Its a touchy situation with children because it typically is the family who is guilty. Stranger abduction and murder of children is rare. But atleast in this case they do have cash's body. In some the body is never found; haleigh Cummings and Karon hormones immediately come to my mind. And those are the saddest of them all...no closure.
