Nothing is stopping you from being grateful to the soldiers who made this country a reality. Go back to Washington and his men if you need to.

nothing fake about that, and the world benefited.
 Quoting: beeches

In some ways that's true....I didn't mean to come into your thread and shit on it.

I am grateful for having been born here...grateful I served although it has left a sour taste in my mouth.

Anyways grateful for whatever fight that's coming our way....will finally be a just fight
 Quoting: SierraNevadaHerbage

believe me I understand you bout Iraq. My best friend's husband was there.

a terrible shame to misuse the power of our fighting men.

far too many wars have been bankers' wars - as the saying says, all of them.

yet without soldiers, there is no freedom.

very glad you posted, both times.

when the time spent in totalitarianism is counted in weeks not decades, you are lucky.

I spent weeks behind the Iron Curtain. Many decades ago. So beautiful, Masuren in Poland.

so absolutely hungry for food and controlled.

even the flagship seafood restaurant in East Berlin had food we would probably not eat here.
Gastmahl des Meeres was its name I think.

Smorgasboard of the Sea.

In a nursing home, I saw vats of greenish mashed potatoes being wheeled between the beds in a 16-bed room in Poland. Wooden paddles like oars scooped the mass onto plates for each bedridden pattient.

nothing else. nothing. They ate if they could lift their hands to their mouths.

that is my way to memorialize what we have. I dearly hope we keep it.

Thank you!!!!

I remember so much about the weeks in Poland. They killed their chicken (our Polish friends did) to make a meal for us.

No more eggs.

Our other meals contained crawfish from the creek.

A young family with a newborn lived in a decrepit small barn. They plugged the holes in the wall with straw. Talk about a manger scene.

our friend Marianna worked in the nursing home. That is how I got in. Her mother worked in the laundry there.

To this day I don't know how the mother survived that. The laundry area had scummy water well over your ankles and a couple broken machines. She used wood pallets to try to make a dry area to walk.

This is the former Allenstein/Hohenstein area, can't spell the Polish version.

electricity came on for a few hours a day around 4 o clock.

the house Marianna lived in had no indoor plumbing, but the outhouse was on the back porch.

This was the late-mid seventies.

I did learn to love the land there, and cosmos daisies, the clouds of them growing around the old houses.

most people lived in Communist highrises. Marianne felt lucky not to.

we had to hide our car with the German license. They don't like Germans...

Finally - this was the poverty there- after crossing the border to Poland from East Germany, we hit a fox.

killed it dead. My companion was so upset he dragged it to the roadside and tried to quickly bury it.

When we reached our friends later that day, we told them about killing a fox.

"Where is it?" they all jumped up and yelled.

"I buried it a little" he said.

There were so upset - the fox pelt could have been sold for a month's wages........

I am thankful for the many blessings Almighty God has bestowed on this great nation the United States of America.

Conversely, I am mourning the fact that as a whole, this nation has turned it’s back on Almighty God and has taken for granted the blessings we have received.

There are a few who don’t take things for granted. But this is the minority.

Our great nation is going to receive a big wake up call to turn back some who have forgotten who their Maker is.

Every nation in history who has worshipped idols, political and otherwise, have all fallen.

Our last election was a test to see whom we will follow: God or self. The die has been cast. May Almighty God protect those who trust in Him.

This year it is more personal for me and I am remembering the pilots and crew of the RA-5C squadrons who risked their lives in unarmed planes to get pre and post bombing intelligence in Vietnam. I know this seems oddly specific but my father passed last year and he was one of the crew men who kept those planes flying. I remember him coming back from Vietnam have lost half their planes.

So they are on my mind and in my prayers today.

So they could call in the F-105s to bomb the shit out of Vietnamese villages, burn them to the ground and while thousands of men women and children were incinerated.

Uncle, killed in the Battle of the Bulge WW2. They were defending a pass in the mountains. German 88mm artillery got him. He has a memorial in his hometown.

Family members and other Americans who died in wars or came back with PTSD, lost wages/opportunities, and negative affects on their lives and families.

We know if those who made the ultimate sacrifice and rightly honor them, but many, many more come back with either visible or invisible wounds or both. I have seen firsthand how mental injury (PTSD) affects the family and succeeding generations. We cannot forget them, some are your neighbors who suffer in silence and we have in idea.

I know you posted this less than clever response in an attempt to get a rise out of me. Unfortunately the total lack of knowledge on the subject totally undermines your intention.

1) The F-105 is a US Air Force aircraft. The RA-5C is a Navy aircraft.
2) The F-105 never carried Naplam.
3) The only Navy aircraft to drop napalm was the A-1 Skyraider, a prop aircraft.
4) The RA-5C was used in strike missions in the most heavily defended airspace. which had SAM and AAA. A-1 did not go near those locations.

I don't see any hand wringing for the Germans and Italians attacked with napalm during WW II? Or the Japanese?

Remembering my grand-pa's from WWII. In their honor I am putting to rest the old broken dishwasher and replacing it with a brand new one. I know it is what they would want me to do. Neither one was big on ceremony. They would want me to take care of my family easier though. Good to live in a land where we have the options of using a dishwasher. RIP grandpa's.

That was not Trump. That was lies and propaganda from an ex Obama holdover. Plus the guy was never there with Trump. Probably most likely something Obama said. And this con just said the President, knowing it would be blamed on Trump. After all Obama skipped it.
