Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77692814 Women actually appreciated their natural beauty. 80s female hair styles and makeup were over-the-top compared to the 90s when it all that came down to earth. Even when it was over-the-top in the 90s, it was a lot more aesthetically pleasing than the 80s. I realize that's all subjective, but I thought everyone agreed basically that 80s female hair styles and makeup don't hold up whereas that stuff from the 90s still generally looks great. Beyond that, I love the 90s female rebellious attitude that wasn't really there in the 80s. Just watch the Todd in the Shadows video I just posted for an explanation. |

I drove my sister and her friend to the concert, but I just stayed in the car because Gwen Stefani didn't even seem like anything special to me then. Looking back, that's insane because she was so gorgeous and cool and talented, but back then I thought of her as just a little above average. I am not exaggerating at all. The thing is, there is no one like Gwen Stefani in her prime around anymore. Do you see what I mean? This is video of a No Doubt show around that time. [link to www.youtube.com (secure)] When you’re young in high school and college you don’t realize how rare it is to hang around beautiful women all the time. Once you hit your late 30s, at least for me, you realize that you don’t get that privilege anymore. I can totally see how you felt that way about Gwen Stefani. I felt the same way about her at the time. |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 77692814 Women actually appreciated their natural beauty. You didn't have the women with dyed hair, odd piercings, tattoos, fake tits, plastic surgery, excessive make up, mascara, eyeliner, fake tans, excessive jewelry etc. like the vast majority of girls have now. Or at least they were the extreme small minority. You didn't have as much of it in the 1990's as from the 2000's onwards, but the trend was definitely starting in the 1990's. It's not all women. Not me either. I have never been fan of it. I dy my hair, but it's done nicely, only 2 normal ear piercings one each side, no fake boobs, rarely wear makeup if I do, it's nice, like in the 80s 90s. And not everything but one thing stronger. No excessive jewelry, earrings - small-and necklace or and watch is enough, if larger, only one piece. No fake tans, can't do it either as I'm allergic but wouldn't anyway, I mean, who wants to be ruining nice porcelain skin! I have never considered fake tan nice. I dress classics, bohemic or just plain nice. Nothing weird. No tattoos. I have never considered them nice and can't either because of allergies. StarFlowers |

Quoting: menojack I don't agree. If you look at the iconic women in the 1990s, they were generally less artificial than women in the 1980s. In the 90s, for every artificial-type iconic woman like Mariah Carey, you had a down-to-earth iconic woman like Alanis Morissette. Consequently, I believe the 90s were a lot less artificial than the 80s. Every iconic woman in the 80s I can think of was on the artificial side. |

I felt the same way about her at the time. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 78989490 Gwen Stefani was a dead ringer for Alicia Silverstone in the early 90s as you can see here. It was really a golden era of attractive women. Imagine thinking a woman like this was just a little above average. I can't believe I was lucky enough to live through that. Anonymous Coward User ID: 80174306 Vietnam 06/01/2021 11:27 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Prime dating was in the 90s and it was much easier to meet gals. Now for most guys in my age group it is a life of a Eunuch or dating a single mom that has 4 kids. Women would approach men a lot more back then for dates because it was before the Internet and phone apps ruined dating. Why in the world would a woman ask a guy out now when she can get endless offers on the Internet? I am not even sure that the Internet is good for women in terms of dating. I believe being proactive usually produces the best results, but with women never having to be proactive in dating anymore, it actually limits their results more than expanding them. I mean, women can automatically sort men by things like income, height, and looks on a phone app without considering intangibles like personality at all. [sarcasm] Why let a little thing like personality get in the way of the person you will marry and have children with? [/sarcasm] What a disgusting world we have today. |

Now days american women either have a ton of baggage, are gold diggers, very out of shape, are brainwashed sjws, or consider it empowering to be miserable and act more like a man (and not like a woman). The concept of being feminine and beautiful (and not artificial) started to go away at the end of the 80s. Now the slogan is, "It's (fill in the year)...aren't we beyond women being appreciated for their looks? It's a woman's right to go mess herself up!" You are exactly right, and the problem with this is that for 99% of women, 'their looks' is precisely all that they bring to the table. Ladies, be the 1% and then 'your looks' will be of no consequence. It is a battle for objective reality. / Individual self determination, universal altruism. Thefuture(presents). |

In the 90s, what we call libtards now didn't exist. The Republicans and Democrats were not nearly as far apart then as they are today. We had a Republican POTUS for two years and a Democratic POTUS for eight years in the 90s, and I think there was hardly a very significant difference between them. |

In the 1990s I was dating girls that were immigrants from South America and Europe they were way way better and still are.
