The point is where are these types among the young people.

There are no Alanis Morissettes, Sheryl Crows, Fiona Apples, Jewels, or any of the other types of female icons from the 90s mentioned in this thread out there today.

The edge is gone. The spirit is gone.

Taylor Swift is a great song writer, but she's got no edge with her constant sappy, corny, repetitious love songs.

When Taylor Swift is edgy, it comes off as silly.

This is a very edgy idea for a song and video, but it comes off as a joke.

When you compare this to the examples of edginess from the 90s, I think the point of this thread is apparent.

Who is edgy these days in women's music? Katy Perry had an edgy song and video called "Chained to the Rhythm" several years ago. She hit a home run there, but I can't of anything in women's music that's edgy since the 90s.
