Can someone please stop me from drinking

This is excellent advice, please follow it I was literally going to give the same advice.

Dont get me wrong some people who drink everyday all day for years and suddenly quit could face death.

get the stuff called ginger beer, it is not alcohol and no high fructose corn syrup
It's in the soda pop section not the alcohol section

Keep it in the front of your mind that you must do something and you must NEVER get trashed in public and scrap with the cops again.

Before I quit, I listened to AA speeches on youtube for days.

Stevie Ray Vaughn's is great. There are LOTS of famous voices (identified only by first names) … with AA speeches on youtube.

Get it all in your head and keep it coming.

try some different types of rules

like alternate every drink with a bottle of juice or coca cola, you’ll fool your body, it doesn’t care what it’s drinking, that will cut drinking in half right there and you won’t even miss it

take milk thistle to help the liver

Once your body uses something else then youll lose the physical draw to drinking, but you will have to deal with the mental draw on your own.

Switch to some non alcoholic drink and stay away from bars.

Take up weight lifting or running. When anyone asks you to drink. Tell them you have to not drink while training.

Hit the gym and eat healthy. Join a religion if that's your thing. My friend drank so much his body gave up at 36. He was the coolest guy ever. Your future self will thank you.

AA can help you stay committed and can actually be a fun meeting to look forward to. Get a nice sponsor that can help you stay on track.

The "Me" that's at the grocery store or out on a run usually has my best interests in mind, I've found.

Just don't keep it around, and stop going to the bar.

Try monster energy drinks the original green can. Or just running outside to get your mind off the urge.

I drank HEAVILY daily for half a decade (I’m 28YO) and did drugs daily since I was 12. Haven’t had the urge to have even one drink or drug in 2 years.


No human power will be able to take your need for booze away. You answered your own question BTW.

Try wine instead of hard liquor.

The kind of behavior you're talking about is much more common with liquor drinkers than wine / beer drinkers.

Smoke pot and take valium.


Alcohol withdrawals a living hell.

3 shots of Apple cider vinegar a day mixed with water.

Trick yourself to thinking it's alcohol like I do.

Also it really helps to cut the craving!

Alcohol and benzodiazepines are the only two substances where the withdrawal itself can kill you.

Just wait for a liver attack and you will stop.

when you aren't drinking, think of something different that you can do

at that time of day or whatever

that you usually drink.

make it enjoyable, something that will give you good feelings.

then do it.

you'll be starting a new habit

Here is what I did,
I'm 4 years sober last week..

First off go to the doctor's and get Naltrexone. It's something that will rid you of any withdrawal effects. Also ask for some meds like Xanax and or Panic attack meds coupled with antidepressants.

It will give you the edge you need to grip!

With that grip stay on that edge for a out 2 or 3 months.. maybe longer.. then if on Xanax start weaning from that slowly to make sure you don't relapse on alcohol. If you don't feel ready to leave it then don't. They also have less addictive stuff available for panic attacks other then xanax but i used "baby" xanax and switched to propronol.. it's basically what I did because I did not want to go to rehab...

I was throwing up beer from the night before while trying to guzzle beer from that day.. I was trying to to the whole hair of the dog cure or whatever it's called where you drink to cure the hangover.. did it for years but that day I was puking from the beer I was trying to drink and was literally standing over the toilet, beer in hand throwing up and guzzling in between... It was at that moment I WANTED to quit . Are you there yet? I don't know. But if you already want to quit then I suggest you do now before you get to where I was...

Also I never attended any AA meetings but wanted the tokens and read up a lot in the materials .. anyways good luck and God bless.. also be sure to find anything to distract the mind.. idle hands!

quitting blogs have a lot of helpful tips. keep busy from 5 to 7 pm, have some sugarless lollies on hand (alcohol is sugar), if your brain prompts you to drink, it means it expects a sugar hit.

Try Beer bloody mary's - the latin's call them Chelada's .


Have a 6 pack or less and you will still have an appetite .

Just go get your average clean lager and a bottle of Bloody mary mix u like . Add ice and straw .

It will help lowering the 12 pack a night BS .
