Can someone please stop me from drinking | |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 79149163 Canada 06/04/2021 05:37 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Sober I am very quiet, caring and reserved, Quoting: Anonymous Coward 80375393 When I drink I am the opposite and go ape shit, I over react to everything especially if feel offended or insulted. AA really helped me in my beginning, all you need is a desire to stop drinking. Check out a meeting, you can go and just listen. Meetings are found online usually or you can find a number to call in your area. Alcoholism is a dis-ease of the mind, recovered alcoholics will help you. God bless you in your recovery, you sound ready. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 76749660 United States 06/04/2021 07:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | AA is good for the accountability. And you might find, when you are in a room of people with similar problems, your shyness diminishes. You have described at least two of the symptoms of alcoholism: the inability to moderate once drinking has begun; and the binge/purge guilt/shame cycle. You have also exhibited the prime necessity to get well - you recognize that you have a problem. On a slightly different tack, it seems that your adopted persona requires the repression of your more aggresssive/darker self. The only time that other you can come out is when you lower your inhibitions. As part of getting better, you need to bring that other self into your daily life in the form of positive outlets that allow you to express it in non-destructive ways. You probably have a lot of anger from years of squelching important parts of your psyche. This is probably why someone asked if you are 10. |

Quoting: CK Dexter Haven The kind of behavior you're talking about is much more common with liquor drinkers than wine / beer drinkers. I was with someone who did that. Makes no difference. Alcohol will be consumed till you pass out. She could only stay sober for a few months. It was terrible for her I'm sure. YOU CANNOT CONSUME ALCOHOL PERIOD. You have to abstain but it has to be done a little at a time or it can kill them. Seriously. That's what I learned... Living has taught me one thing; nothing is certain...except salvation through Jesus Christ! |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 7306422 United States 06/09/2021 07:28 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Vitamin B helps me not drink so much. For some reason it takes that need away, a little. Also, video games help! I'm not a gamer but when my mind is busy I don't drink. I agree with others on the weed. I'll take it before I get that need a drink feeling and it helps. One other thing that helps when I do it, is prayer. When I have prayed everyday to not drink, I do better. Good luck to you! |

We’ll make sure you are dropped off in a location that doesn’t have any stores that sell alcohol for say a 100 mile radius. It sounds crazy but it might be just what you need. |

Get past a week on substances and it becomes significantly easier. You have to master self control. You have to walk past the bottle and say not today. Not for me. 3-4 weeks you feel great and may slip up because you think you got it. You will physically feel like shit and guilty as fuck. Once you are over it you cannot imagine your life with it. |

They give you some type of injection and every time you drink you immediately get violently ill. You wont do it twice they say. It will change your taste for booze to where you will spit it out. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 78072639 United States 06/09/2021 09:20 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | I quit drinking years ago. What helped me most is the realization that alcohol is microbe piss. Microbes excrete into their food until the concentration is so high it kills them off. Suicidal microbe urine. It kills cells. It kills most everything, concentration dependent, of course. But while some can claim a small amount is good for you, I say not. I also think of the money saved and friends lost to it. |

I will tell you my story and maybe you could see something useful in it. I was introduced to alcohol pretty young (I guess not by today's standard) at the age of 14... Spent the next 26 years getting better at drinking and worse at everything else... at least as far as relationships go... Fought friends, pushed away my family or at least scared them to the point they had to leave... Thought that was it I lost everything... I begged for forgiveness and prayed to the Lord to tale the evil of alcohol away from me because I can't do it on my own... Been just over a year sober and my friends are amazed... They seem to think I had something to do with it but I know it was out of my control. Praise be to God. |

If you think you have a serious problem, you do. Listen to some AA speaker tapes on YouTube-more wisdom there than you’d imagine. Drunks end up insane, incarcerated or dead. Slow burn or fast. Attend a local AA meeting. Surrender, you can do it. There is a better life waiting. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 79226891 United States 06/09/2021 10:01 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Last week I drank way too much and had a psychological breakdown. I was talking about ending it right then and there and ended up in emergency protective custody thanks to my wife, she did the right thing. I was given a prescription for naltrexone which I've been taking one 50mg dose of every day since. I'm not sure but I think it's actually working. I have had a drinking problem for a long time now but my usual overwhelming urge to drink has lifted. My situation has improved and maybe this could help you too. Good luck. |

User ID: 80174811 United States 06/09/2021 10:22 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | OP it will never get better if you keep drinking. It's just the way it works once that part of your mind goes into defense mode. Think you can have just a couple? Nope. Never. I thought I could have just a few and it usually was a minimum of 20. Lost alot of friends kept going to jail destroyed alot of my own property. You get nothing back either. Find new friends. Create a new dimension to your life. Make some art or something. Transcend the negative into something positive. You have to put the energy into things you love. If you don't love something well it's a good time to start. Sometimes AA isn't what's best. I would have prolly just got depressed hearing everyone's war stories and kept doing it. You have to do it yourself and you have to want to. If your not willing to yet it just gets worse until it finally is so bad you can't take it. That's how I quit. Find things you are passionate about, reignite the flame in your soul that you do care. Bad experiences never go away you only become able to manage them, learn from it. Best of luck to you it happens to many, you are not alone. BeyondMMXX |

It works in clinical trials and in real life. Has no real effects other than to make alcohol less appealing. Some science guy could tell you why, I’m not him. Kratom if you still need a little something something but don’t mix with alcohol and drink lots of water. |
